I think Leonard Cohen is a great example of existing at a "triple point" of Art, showing how closely three forms of expression can be intertwined. He writes critically acclaimed novels, i.e. _The Favorite Game_, won a poetry prize and has been a successful singer/songwriter. In some ways it is misleading to only focus on his music to get a real sense of his work. That being said he has great songs at every point of his career even if it is not obvious musically how the evolution of his music occurred.

Not really anything to say, but, yes, "Take This Waltz" is definitely a perfect moment in pop - even its kind of b-movie-elements contribute to its unique quality. Go for that song, it´s a gift a song that can be good friend - a lifetime long. It offers darkness and consolation at the same time.

The Essential Leonard Cohen? A greatest hits album? Wow, look at me. I don't know why I still get surprised at rock journo's buying those pathetic things.
