Nice review .. I also like weird upsetting music without the usual signifiers of said music. The thing about wanting to deal with snakes in the forest as opposed to a single snake under your pillow was really good. However, I almost stopped reading after the line about how this is easy listening "in the way that retarded people are still human beings." I would skirt away from writing anything that could be interpreted as saying that retarded people are less than human. I'm sure that wasn't your intention, but ... just .. why go there?

honestly, i agree that it might've been too much. i didn't really mean any harm though, and i figured people would understand what i was getting at. i mean, originally, it was about people with cognitive disorders who have weird linguistic patterns, but thought it woulda been inaccessible. and my point was kind of that retarded people are OBVIOUSLY human beings, but with a certain condition that inhibits or distorts some of the qualities we take to BE human--i don't mean it in a bad way, but it does trigger a weird little place in your mind, no?
