o,What are you smoking, Canibus? I don’t understand your motivation to come out with a piece of trash album like this. Louie Lombard is a snake, man, he produced your album with the intent of reaping all of the profits, and you got played like the fool you are! You finally figured it out and he skipped town, leaving you with no career and no cash. You used to be my favorite MC, to be frank – "Beasts from the East"? "4,3,2,1"? "Desperadoes"? You were on fire man, insanely. So then you went and released your debut, Can-I-Bus, and it wasn’t as hot as it could have been. For the most part, you were lyrically on point, ‘Bis, but you know and I know ‘Clef fucked up the beats. He was trying to go too straight hip-hop and you know that ain't his style. You guys just don’t fit together, but you both got tons of talent on your own.
Soon after your debut, another hot MC was ready to come out. The parallels were astounding, both you and he were accused of only being able to write battle raps, both of you had beefs even before their first album – you had LL, he had Cage. You know who I’m talking about, ‘Bis? Of course you do. Remember how Dre produced that track for the two of us, “Battle Cats”, and we ripped the hell out of it in the studio? Smoked out, totally drunk, just you and me battling each other and then tying it up as friends in the end? It didn’t make my album ‘cause it just didn’t fit...is that why you’re upset with me? I told you for your recording fee, you could have the track. You flipped and claimed I should give it to you for free, but you charged me to record it – I’m not just going to hand over a Dre beat, even to a friend, man. Was I being unfair? Hell no, I offered you a hit song for free for your second album. What did I ever do but try to help you, ‘Bis? After your second album dropped, ‘Bis, I thought you had a classic. The beats were much, much better and your rhymes continued to dominate. Critics trounced it, because that’s what they do man...they're fickle like that. It didn’t flop, though. You went platinum, right? That’s not bad. So maybe next time out you try to vary it a little, I don’t know... you had it all man, money, skills, respect, and now? You don’t have any of it...
So here we are, man. Your third album. I was kind of interested to see what you'd do. I don’t know why you chose to call me out on C:True Hollywood shit, but you did and that’s said and done. But jesus, ‘Bis, why couldn’t you have chose to do it in a better way? Dis me, my family, my skills, Dre and my relationship – that’s fine, but Stan? Come on, dude, Stan was a poignant comment on fanaticism and the relationship and artist and listener share. I made it to let people be aware that sometimes, people take things too seriously, like you, for instance. After getting dropped from Universal, you just snapped, man. I would have been glad to work on a track with you, we had the chemistry, and with the knowledge of production I’ve gotten from Dre, I think we could have made a hit – but I couldn’t get ahold of you and, while I didn’t try that hard, the point is I tried. And then you came back out with this crap...what am I supposed to say?
The concept is idiotic, man, the fact that you ‘saved’ Stan, my fictional character, is just absurd. The song you created, “U Didn’t Care” ‘with’ him, is retarded, man. Besides the fact that your Stan character is just you after getting kicked in the nuts, your lyrics really dropped off. Besides me, you take attacks at Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, and Islamic people, and for what? Did you get recognition from the album? Yeah, but not the result you probably wanted – everyone I know was laughing their ass off at the album. Jay, who got you your deal was laughing when I played it for him – he hadn’t even heard it until last week.
And it was just bad, man, the lyrics, the beats. Using video game samples on “Hate U 2” and “Love U 2”? Putting your weak ass crew, C4 and Pakman.. some criticized me for D-12, but your boys aren’t even close. Louie Lombard is a snake, ‘Bis -- he took your money, and where is he now? No one knows. That’s what you get, man, when a guy who’s never made a gold album promises you triple-plat.
I write this because I care. I know you can do it, but you won’t be doing it with me. I don’t want to be a part of your weak attempt to come back, so don’t diss me or try to befriend me, because I’m done dealing with you. I made “Square Dance” and “Say What You Say” as a final shot, and you won’t be hearing from me anymore, regardless of what you want. I leave you with a quote to remind you of what’s going on. “Amateurs drink veteran piss / Out of a Dixie cup / If they ever mix me up or confuse me / With a Canibus or Dre with a Dupri” – maybe you guys should get together and do an album?
-Peace,
Marshall
