Wanting to donate to hurricane relief but needing a little incentive? Here are two options:
Through the end of the year, Putumayo World Music is donating all of its proceeds from its albums New Orleans and Mississippi Blues to relief efforts in the area. The first album features traditional jazz and blues from artists like Louis Prima, Louis Armstrong, and Dr. John. The second contains just what it says. Artists include John Lee Hooker, Bobby Bland, Chris Thomas King, and Mississippi John Hurt.
Blow Up Hollywood has also said that all the profits from purchases of their cds at CD Baby will go directly to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the Hurricane disaster.
If the disaster has put you in the Christmas spirit, let me also recommend the double-disc Solid PR Presents, Volume One. Available here, proceeds from this disc benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Style of acts are wide-ranging and include the Unicorns, Man Man, Mommy and Daddy, the Flashlight Arcade, Hella, I Am the World Trade Center, and Crystal Skulls.
